Training and self-development are an integral part of Scouting for all members. The training scheme is designed to help you in your role. It is split into many small modules for your convenience. It can be done online at:

Once training has been completed, it needs to be signed off by the Group Scout Leader or a Training Advisor.
Costs
It is Group policy that you should not be out-of-pocket from volunteering with us, but that you should not be in-pocket either. Therefore, it is Group policy to pay for Scout-led activity training, but not for food eaten whilst attending.
Section Assistants
Individuals are responsible for ensuring that they complete Modules 1 and 3 within five months of their Provisional Appointment.
Woodbadges (Leader Training)
Individuals are responsible for ensuring that they complete Modules 1, 2 and 3 within 5 months of their Provisional Appointment.
Individuals are responsible for ensuring that they complete Modules 5 – 19 within 3 years of their full Appointment.
On-going Learning
Woodbadge holders are required to undertake on average 5 hours training per year; you are required to organise this yourself and keep your own records. Further training includes any activities which are helpful to your role in Scouting; they do not need to be Scout-led.
1st Aid
All Leaders should hold an up to date 1st Aid Certificate which is recognised by the Scout Association.
Safeguarding
You are required to have done a Scouts Safeguarding Awareness course prior to your five-year review. This is available free online click here
